The Art of Illusion Dressing

What Body Shape am I and how do I choose the right garments to make me look and feel Fabulous?

Here is a few general shape rules: -

Don’t bring attention to the part of your body that you’d prefer didn’t have attention e.g. strong colours on large hips or large prints on a big bust.

If you’re petite, stay away from busy prints.   Keep your look in block colours but avoid wide boxy prints, and shapes.

It’s all about balance – bringing the eye up to the face rather than risking having it sit on a figure challenge i.e. right at the hip or the bust or at a distracting point on the body.

Don’t make short legs shorter by wearing boxy trousers or capris

Alternatively don’t make a short torso shorter by wearing a bomber style or bolero jacket or tucking in shirts.

Wherever the body is made to look shorter, it follows that it automatically looks wider.

Wide collars, boat necks, horizontal features at the neckline help to balance out a wider hip – Pear Shape

Wrap dresses, waist cinching jackets look great on an hourglass shape
Large busts and apple shapes should never wear double breasted jackets. Always stick to singlebutton, wide lapel jackets.
Flat front trousers and straight legs are the best for most shapes.
Always hem skirts at the narrowest part of the leg.
